RADIOMAR WHO WE ARE

  Mimma meets Ubaldo in a restaurant in Milan during the summer in 1963. In summer 1964
their meetings are not so random and in summer 1965 they decide to get married, but only 
if in a Basilica.
  Their marriage is celebrated in Basilica of Pompei on February, 28th 1966.
 Since the beginning they discover common interests, such as photography, motorcycles and
collecting. 
 Ubaldo,first,is very interested in sailing and gets his radio-amateur lycense (IW2BFP in
1977). They spend their holidays over years between sky and sea. Sea life gives them the
chance to make lot of protographs;sailing during the night or in particular meteorological
conditions needs some electronic devices or radio-communications, so Mimma begins to be 
interested in radio (I2YOT in february 1979).
 The common interest to radio-communications lets both Mimma / Ubaldo use all trasmission
modes, partecipate in contests and divulge radio in schools.
 They also found a “sezione A.R.I.” (radioclub) and begin to prepare some other people to
the examinations in order to receive a radioamateur lycense.
 During the summer in 1986 they move in central Italy (zone 6 of italian zones) and become
IW6MKI (Ubaldo) and I6YOT (Mimma). 
 The son, Sandro, and the daughter, Elena, are interested in radio too, but only the first
one has actually a lycense.
 Now they are both retired and they live in Pizzoli; they like only to have a good time,
making radio and travelling.

Milan Summer 1976. Photo from the house balcony, camera 6x6, telephoto lens 800 mm. We spent all our working time, 6 hours a day, under the tower ( 93 m. high). The house is 6 km far away from the tower. In the left corner, another tower with Horn antennas.

The tower from the roof of one of the four buildings which form the its base. The low temperature inside the buildings was strictly controlled but has been the cause of some cases of congestion.

Summer 1979. La Plaia, first V/UHF contest. I2YOT is working and Sandro looks for a comic: he will find it about 10 m far from the auto., because of wind.

The contest is at the end. Self-timer family photo. From left: IW2BFP Ubaldo, I2YOT Mimma, in front Sandro and Elena. The light demonstrates that sunset is coming and clothes that, despite the summer time (June), we do not feel any hot. We are at 1400m. above s.l., on the top of a mountain, and the wind is icy.
Antennas are home made.
Radio: VHF Multi 2000A, UHF Braun 70C.

Monza circuit,1982. Doing a radio aid, as volunteers of Sezione A.R.I. of Monza, during Grand Prix. Mimma has a curious face because of sand which fell on her: she believes Sandro, who is on a scaffolding making the photo, made that. The racing track is only 8 m far and noise is ear-splitting. Mimma is working in 70 cm. with throat microphone. Elena and Sandro are using noise-abating headphones. I’m using headphones too, even is I’m far away from the racing track and in a room.
